Afrobeats-Reggae Star Stonebwoy Releases New Album

The Ghanaian artist, real name Livingstone Etse Satekla, is exploring new themes with his third LP and has collaborated with some of music's most-popular artists.

MULTI AWARD-winning Ghanaian artist Stonebwoy has been making waves across the world with his brand of afro-pop driven reggae and dancehall over the last few years, picking up plaudits far and wide including from the likes of BBC, CNN, MTV, BET and lots more.

Off the back of previous single ‘Falling Again' featuring Kojo Funds, and a packed out UK album listening party at Red Bull Studios, Stonebwoy was thrilled to announce the release of his highly anticipated new album ‘Epistles Of Mama (EOM)’ (released 12th December).

To coincide with this, he has teamed up with UK-based, Jamaican dancehall queen Khalia on these brand new visuals for album track ‘Hold On Yuh’ - a track which showcases his seamless ability to combine the two genres which influence him the most.

His 3rd studio album and the first of its kind, ‘Epistles Of Mama’, is a double album consisting of 12 reggae songs and 12 afrobeats tracks. The ambitious project boasts some specials collaborations with some of the scene’s finest including; Sean Paul, Sarkodie, Burna Boy, Kabaka Pyramid and much more.

Stonebwoy unpacks the duality of the album: “I wanted to reach out across the world, to all the lovers reggae and all the lovers of afrobeats and to bring these 2 genres together in one place.”

The theme of motherhood is integral to 'Epistles of Mama' and underpins many of the tracks. Dedicating the project to his mother, Stonebwoy explains:

“It’s inspired by the good morals, the teachings, the lessons, the anguish and the smiles of life - All the important things in life which are passed on to us by our mothers.”

In 2015, Stonebwoy won the 'Best International Act: Africa' at the BET Awards and 'Artist of the Year' at the Ghana Music Awards. He is lauded as being one of Africa's leading reggae and dancehall artists.
